A Series of Unfortunate Events

Thirteen books, three orphans, and a gaggle of unforgettable characters. I grew up with these books, in fact its one of my favorite series.

Following the lives of the hapless Baudelaire orphans, Violet, 14, Klaus, 12, and baby Sunny, these books are humorous, a little creepy and always interesting. After their parents die in a horrible fire, the three are handed off to their relative, the villainous and scheming Count Olaf (a third cousin four times removed or a fourth cousin three times removed) Written with an old fashioned flair, this fast paced series is not for the squeamish, the Baudelaire children are truly complex compelling characters, whom you'll love to the very end. Although written for middle grades, the books deal with mature concepts and humor that is on the darker side, making it a wonderful read for children and adults.

Since the release of the first novel, the Bad Beginning, in Sept. 1999, the books have gained significant popularity, critical acclaim, and commercial success world wide, spawning a video game, a film and a ridiculous amount of merchandise. The thirteen books in the series have collectively sold more than 60 million copies and have been translated into 41 languages.

And now, January 13th, 2017, Netflix is releasing their own adaptation of this beloved series!(starring non other than Neil Patrick Harris as the evil Count Olaf)

Take a look at the first trailer.
